Here at AbbyLou, we are a small Tennessee-based, woman-owned company that produces sympathy, gift boxes for those that really need to feel loved and supported, on any occasion. We want to provide an opportunity to provide comfort, joy and love to those around us and to our wonderful customers.

Our first box, the Teddy Bear box was a labor of love for us. This stemmed out of a realization that even the smallest tokens can mean so much when someone is going through a hard time.

Two years ago, doctors found a large mass in my abdomen. We found out that it was a 4 POUND tumor, stemming from my ovary. After surgery, it was found to be CANCEROUS. The oncologist got the cancer out, but prescribed 3 rounds of chemo because it was a fairly aggressive form of cancer.

After the second round of chemo, I had a HEART ATTACK. Did I tell you I was only 44 at the time? With clear arteries and no other cause, it was deduced that it was due to the chemo drugs I was taking. After that, I stopped treatment and focused on my heart attack that led to heart failure. It was a rough few months, but I did get to ride in a helicopter to Jackson general … that was a first!

But what didn’t escape me during a time of fear and uncertainty for me and my family, was the love and support we felt from friends and loved ones. Stuffed animals and gift boxes were such a special treat and I loved all of them. It was a testament to how something small can make someone feel so loved and supported.

I feel so fortunate to have made it through all of that, with the love and support of my family and friends, near and far. Now I get to continue to enjoy our growing family (holding grandchild #2 to the right and #3 below).
